Marketing for Photographers
I thought about starting this article with the phrase, "the world has changed." But I rethought it after I realized that implies the change has already occurred. In reality, the world is changing, and all that I can do is try to shed a little light on how that affects your ability to market yourself and your services.
As a photographer, there are several different elements that will contribute to your success. Camera companies will try to sell you on the fact that all it takes is a top of the line camera. Educating yourself on how to use that camera, whether through a course with NYIP or some other means, will help you master your camera and create the best possible photographs. But that will only get you so far. The element that most photographers miss is what you do outside of the photography world that helps get you noticed.
As a marketer, I know that the opportunities out there for individuals who are looking to marketing themselves are growing. It's cheaper and easier than it ever has been to get your name out there. The key is getting over the fear, getting past the hesitation, and taking the necessary steps to grow your own personal brand.
That's why I created the Photo Marketing 101 Blog Series. It's an ongoing series of posts on the little things that you can do that can make a big difference in your future as a photographer.
