Photo Snack – Basics of Posing

By NYIP Staff on April 15, 2015

Welcome to another NYIP Photo Snack! In this week’s video, we learn that the secret to making portraits that stand out from the crowd is mastering the art of posing.

The best portrait photographers know that the key to a great portrait is in position the subject or subjects in the most interesting way possible.

Avoid shooting someone with their shoulders square to the camera. Instead, angle their shoulders to help guide the viewer’s eye into the photo and toward your subject’s face. The right pose adds energy and emotion to a photograph that might otherwise lack it.
